The Transitions Program
The Transitions Program is an educational experience
that empowers individuals to create a personal blueprint for the
next step in their journey - with peers, facilitators and mentors
who inspire, challenge and support them to realize their dreams.
We have also recently developed our Independent Learning System
to assist youth in attaining Ontario high school credits while improving
personal and study skills.
Individuals are challenged, delighted and surprised with our dynamic,
participatory, personal, and wisdom based teaching approach. Classes
included readings, lectures, discussion, exercises, and guest presenters.
Improvisational acting, yoga, tai chi, and drumming are among the
activities offered throughout the course. Upon successful completion
of the Transitions Program students receive a Transitions Certificate.
The course was founded on 4 years of program design and research
carried on through courses at The Living University. The Curriculum
Committee for this course has received input from the ministry of
education, Ontario, staff at the TDSB and York Region District School
Board, faculty from York University, Suzuki and Associates, and
others.
